Reasons To Hold Your Wedding & Celebration In The Same Venue

If you’ve just decided to tie the knot or have a civil partnership – congratulations! You’re no doubt feeling a number of things right now, including, we’d hope, great excitement and happiness. However, you’re also possibly feeling slightly overwhelmed by the scale of the task ahead of planning your wedding, especially if you haven’t previously organised many events.

Clearly, before you do anything else you need to set a budget (and stick to it). The next things to get in place are the venue and date – all other elements should then just slot nicely into place.

When it comes to planning the structure of your big day, one key (and early) decision will be whether to hold your wedding ceremony and reception at the same location. In some cases, for example if you want to marry with a church service or in another religious building, it may not be possible to celebrate afterwards at the same place.

And it’s true that, traditionally, you would always marry and then have the party in separate spots. However, today that no longer has to be the case.

But if you do decide to go down the single-venue route, you’ll quickly find this offers a number of benefits, including:

1.)    The sheer convenience

Getting everyone from one location to another can become a huge logistical challenge, especially in a rural area. You’ll need to give your guests detailed information about transport between venues, and be sure that lifts, cabs or public transport options (assuming they even exist) are in place for everyone who needs them.

By holding everything in the same place, it all happens seamlessly and smoothly. Your elderly and less mobile guests, as well as those who don’t drive, will no doubt appreciate your decision, and feel more relaxed about attending. And if you’re having an atmospheric midwinter late-afternoon or evening celebration, you’ll minimise any moving around after dark.

2.)    You’ll be doing your budget a favour

By focusing on just one location, you can take advantage of some great package deals and so make considerable savings. After all, your venue will always be one of your biggest expenses. Equally, you’ll avoid the extra costs of transport between locations, as will your guests.

3.)    The planet benefits, too!

By staying put all day and evening, you’ll also be doing the environment a favour. If public transport is not available to get guests between ceremony and party venues, and it’s too far to walk, cars or taxis have to fill the gap, which obviously generates more carbon emissions.

4.)    Make the most of your special day

When there’s just one location to think about, you can really make the most of every second of your big day. You won’t have to factor in travel between destinations, giving you more time to celebrate and be with your guests as you create a lifetime of memories. After all, you’ve invested (probably) months and (almost certainly) a significant sum of money in this most important day in your life, one that hopefully only happens once. So why would you want to waste a single moment?

5.)    …. And, relax!

For guests who are coming from far-flung places to see you get hitched, it’s great to arrive at your wedding knowing they won’t have to travel any more. You can all relax. And if your single-site location also has accommodation, even better. People can party into the evening safe in the knowledge that there’s no more lugging around of bags and that they’re settled in for the night.

6.)    A venue in perfect harmony

With just one setting for your wedding, your décor and any themes you choose can be seamless as you move from day to evening. You’ll have one, not two, sites to make your own, making everything a lot more harmonised.
