Top Tips For Planning Your Wedding In 2025

If you’ve decided to tie the knot in 2025, congratulations! And, as the new year gets underway, you may well be wondering what some of the latest wedding trends are for the months ahead.

First, you’ll have to prioritise firming up your ceremony date, wedding venue and budget. Then, if you’re going for a particular theme or style, choose that next so that everything else can follow suit. At the same time, get cracking on your guest list and hiring suppliers from photographers to florists and others. As with any planning, factor in some wiggle room in case anything goes wrong, from a dress malfunction to a last-minute supplier cancellation or weather change.

Hottest wedding trends for 2025

You’ll also no doubt want to incorporate some personal touches. And you could draw inspiration from some of the following key trends predicted to take weddings by storm in 2025:

1.)    Wedding apparel

When it comes to the attire of the key players, the only rule is that there are no rules. But a number of distinctive styles are emerging – including wedding mini-dresses and short veils; less, it seems, is definitely more. So marry in something short and sweet and become a dedicated follower of fashion! Not so much a Little Black Dress as a little white one … Additionally, floral bridal gowns are set to be huge this year, bringing a sense of romance and connection to nature.

Another trend for brides is rocking different outfits at various points of the day, plus ‘convertible’ gowns you can wear in myriad ways.

Tuxedos for grooms, an idea that’s arrived from the US, are growing in favour, as are tailored suits.

2.)    Cakes and colours

Few couples would consider their special day complete without a cake and flowers. For the latter, strong shades are overtaking blooms in neutral tones. Stay on-trend with bold, bright hues, ideally clashing ones. Pink, orange and so on add personality, happiness and energy; so make a statement with your florals and be vibrant.

At the same time, add some greenery, for example ferns or eucalyptus, and consider hanging arrangements such as lanterns or cascading flowers.

As for cakes, heart-shaped, single-tier bakes are taking centre-stage. So serve up a slice of this vintage style. There are also alternatives to the standard wedding staple, including cupcakes or a donut wall.

3.)    Bigger isn’t better – the rise of micro weddings

Smaller weddings may have been a necessity during the pandemic, but their popularity seems to be lingering as couples ditch extended guest lists for something more intimate.

With a micro wedding you have more time to enjoy with those who mean most to you, and your celebration can maybe last longer, for example over a weekend. Once again, less can be more.

4.)    Recording your special day

You’ll want to preserve your memories of your wedding, and the way people do that is shifting from just using regular photographers. For example, content creators are increasingly working alongside (rather than replacing) photographers and videographers to capture content, typically for social media channels. This way, you’ll have more content and a greater range of memories, formal and informal, whether you’re conquering TikTok or want raw footage turned around quickly while you await the official imagery.

Equally, wedding videography as a specific discipline is growing in popularity. The same goes for wedding photo-sharing apps and QR codes, which ensure you won’t miss a moment.

Another idea, and one you may not have previously considered, is to have a wedding illustrator to record your day. They can either create personalised portraits of the main players and guests, or the venue itself. People will love watching them work, plus they can be a great ice-breaker.

5.)    A move towards unusual venues

In 2025, it’s likely we’ll see more couples opt for unusual spots in which to exchange their vows, from vineyards to barns and industrial spaces. Find somewhere that reflects your individual style.
